Wild and Beets are very excited to be awarded BluePrint – Without Walls R&D to develop their new show ‘Buck A Brenda’ Inspired by the classic family game Buck-a-Roo. The original game centred on a moody mule named “Roo”.
You’re favourite Beryl and Cyril are back and will begin a period of R&D this summer to push the theme of a ‘moody mule’ to it’s limits. They will be reworking this classic game with their cheeky Disability politics twist by creating a life-size ‘Crip with a Chip’ wheelchair using character Brenda! (based upon Beryl and Cyril’s friend Brenda from the Barnsley Labour Club.)
The forceful Beryl and Cyril will be hosting again but this time in a new cowboy themed look (think Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers meets Barnsley Labour club line dancing class). They’ll have new adapted pimped up mobility scooters with horses heads and tails, wearing double denim.
The audience will again play in teams. Cyril is in charge of deciding the objects placed on Brenda which are then unhooked from Beryl and her ‘Prejudice’ machine. The team which makes Brenda buck under the weight of their prejudice is out and the winning team is the last team standing (or sitting) and of course receives the prize.
Beryl and Cyril are excited by the fact they’ll be able to buy a whole new wardrobe of double denim outfits… We see white leather tassels!
